Midnight decision delayed

Sandy Thomson expects to make a late decision over Seeyouatmidnight's participation in Saturday's Premier Kelso Hurdle.

Unbeaten under Rules, the impressive six-year-old would be returning to novice company, having previously beaten older horses in the Rendlesham Hurdle at Haydock.

It would also mean dropping nearly a mile in trip, with the possible appearance of Scottish County Hurdle winner Clever Cookie making the Berwickshire trainer think hard about the race.

"We haven't made a decision yet, we probably won't until the last minute," said Thomson.

"We'll try to see who is running and what the ground is like.

"It's drying out all the time and while he doesn't need it soft, he would need a bit of cut over two and a quarter miles.

"I understand Clever Cookie is running and he has plenty of pace, so even though the figures say he (Seeyouatmidnight) should win, we'll have a good think about it."

With no entries at the Cheltenham Festival, Seeyouatmidnight is likely to head straight for Aintree if he does not run at Kelso.
