Miranda reveals Spain approach
Atletico Madrid's Miranda has revealed he was contacted by the Spanish Football Federation to ask whether he would play for them.
However, the talks were stopped after they found out he had already represented his country, Brazil, various times during 2009.
If the defender who was born in Brazil had been able to play for the Spanish national team, he would have been the second Atletico Madrid player to have been approached by the Spanish Federation after striker Diego Costa was also asked to play for the side.
The 29-year old told ESPN Brazil: "It did happen, they sounded me out, wanted to know about my past but I am not able to play for Spain.
"I preferred to not even think about that, as I didn't want to create false expectations. There is nothing more happening at the moment and I'll keep doing my job."
