Japan's Ai Miyazato carded a nine-under-par 63 to establish a two-shot lead after the first round of the Founders Cup in Phoenix.
Miyazato sunk an eagle and seven birdies to lead by two from South Korea's Lee Jee-young, with Pornanong Phatlum of Thailand, Taiwan's Candie Kung and Americans Gerina Piller and Brittainy Lang on six under.
England's Felicity Johnson was three under, one ahead of compatriot Karen Stupples, while Jodi Ewart Shadoff was one under.
