Oakland Athletics claimed a thrilling 14-inning victory over Miami Marlins as they edged them out 7-6 at Marlins Park.
Josh Donaldson delivered the RBI single off Marlins right-hander Jacob Turner in the top of the 14th following a two-out double from Brandon Moss, to put the A's ahead.
Jeff Francis then recorded his first career save after coming in with the bases loaded and just one out in the bottom of the 14th to clinch victory for Oakland.
Mike Napoli blasted Boston Red Sox to a 2-1 victory over New York Yankees in the ninth inning with a home run on Saturday night.
The sides had been tied after both scored a run in the third inning, leaving it to Napoli who got enough on Masahiro Tanakato's pitch to get it over the wall in right field at Yankee Stadium with two outs in the top of the ninth.
Meanwhile, Josh Tomlin paved the way to a 5-0 win for Cleveland Indians over Seattle Mariners with the best start of his Major League career.
The right-hander pitched a shutout to level the three-game series at Safeco Field at one game apiece.
Milwaukee Brewers claimed a 7-4 win over Colorado Rockies after Carlos Gomez hit a three-run homer in the first inning, while Gio Gonzalez blanked Chicago Cubs over seven innings as Washington Nationals claimed a 3-0 victory in game one, before a four-run fourth inning saw them claim a 7-2 win in the second match of the twin bill.
Elsewhere, Dayan Viciedo's three-run homer in the seventh saw Chicago White Sox beat Toronto Blue Jays 4-3 while Atlanta Braves claimed a clean sweep over their twin series against Philadelphia Phillies with 10-3 and 5-1 wins.
Los Angeles Angels evened the series against Kansas City Royals after almost a four-hour rain delay with a 6-2 win while Yu Darvish allowed four hits and struck out 10 as Texas Rangers shutout Minnesota Twins 5-0.
In the other games, New York Mets beat Pittsburgh Pirates 5-3, Tampa Bay Rays defeated Baltimore Orioles 5-4, Detroit Tigers saw off Houston Astros 4-3, Los Angeles Dodgers took a 9-1 win over St Louis Cardinals and Arizona Diamondbacks took a 3-1 win over San Diego Padres.
