Mogga ponders play-off hopes

Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray will head into the final game of an eventful season wondering about what might have been.

The Teessiders kept alive their hopes of reaching the Championship play-offs with a 2-1 home win over automatic promotion hopefuls Southampton on Saturday evening as the club's fans roared them to victory.

Mowbray, whose side needs to win at Watford on Saturday to have any chance of going up, told the club's official website: "It was amazing to see the stadium alive and the noise and atmosphere generated.

"It shows only a winning team can do that and our job is to provide them with one, and we haven't done that enough this year.

"It was great for the players to find that extra bit, and even that might not be enough. But let's see what next week brings. We know what we have to do, we have to go to Watford and win."
