Monaco sign Emmanuel Riviere

Monaco swooped on Ligue 1 side Toulouse to bring in forward Emmanuel Riviere to boost their promotion push.

The second-placed side in Ligue 2 are determined to reclaim a place among the French league elite and have signed 22-year-old Riviere to a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Riviere said on Monaco's website: "I'm very happy and proud to come to this Monaco club which has a beautiful project: promotion to Ligue 1 and the construction of a great team for years to come."

Defender Carl Medjani also joined from top-flight side Ajaccio, with the 27-year-old signing a three-and-a-half-year deal. He has been on African Nations Cup duty with Algeria, who failed to reach the quarter-finals.
