Monaco too good for Haas

Juan Monaco secured his third title of 2012 with a straight sets victory over Tommy Haas in the final of the ATP Tour event in Hamburg.

The world number 14 needed two hours to see off wildcard Haas 7-5 6-4 in a clay court encounter that yielded eight breaks of serve.

The 28-year-old Argentinian, seeded No 3, has already won in Chile and Texas this season and this latest triumph takes his career tally to six - five of these being on clay.

The left-hander recovered from 1-4 down in the opening set - and 0-2 in the second - to deny Haas a second title on home soil this year.

The 34-year-old Florida resident's other success came on the grass of Halle where he beat world No 1 Roger Federer in the final.
