Month-long break for Mawene

Fleetwood Town defender Youl Mawene is facing four weeks on the sidelines after suffering a broken foot.

Former Derby and Preston centre-back Mawene sustained the injury during last weekend's 1-0 defeat to Dagenham, but completed the 90 minutes.

Scans have confirmed the 33-year-old's absence for the immediate future and the news would appear to be a motivating factor in recalling fellow defender Rob Atkinson from his loan spell at Accrington.

Stanley boss Leam Richardson remains keen on bringing Atkinson back to the Crown Ground.

"We'll monitor the situation and see what comes of it," he told BBC Radio Lancashire. "He settled in really well and I think he's enjoyed it. If the same circumstances become evident again, I think he would like to return.

"Rob's done smashing, we thank him and we wish him well. We hope he has an impact on Fleetwood's season."
