Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore eased some painful memories of his last visit to Glanford Park after his side beat Scunthorpe 3-1 on Tuesday.
Three years ago, he was sacked after a last-gasp Iron equaliser on the final day of the season cost Rovers a place in the play-offs.
This time, victory at Glanford Park kept them on top of League One and still unbeaten after 10 games but they had to come from behind to achieve it after Karl Hawley headed Scunthorpe into a 14th-minute lead.
Two goals in three minutes midway through the second half from James Wallace and Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro turned the game around, before the latter struck again in the closing stages to take his season's tally to seven goals.
"I was not happy at half-time - and the players knew it," added Moore. "It was the third successive game that we have started slowly.
"I had a few 'quiet' words and I was delighted with the response. If we were going to lose, I did not want us to do it waving the white flag, I wanted us to battle."
