More injury woe for Popham

Ian Popham was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with a suspected broken pelvis after a fall before the final race at Plumpton.

Popham was unshipped from the Martin Keighley-trained Oyster Hill on the way to the start for the Andy Stewart Charitable Foundation Supports Moorcroft Maiden Open National Hunt Flat Race

Plumpton clerk of the course Mark Cornford said: "He has been taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

"They suspect he may have broken his pelvis."

The 3lb claimer broke his pelvis in three places when riding out last September, and only returned to action this summer.

Keighley, for whom Popham is stable jockey, said: "It doesn't look good. He only returned this summer from his last injury so he's been desperately unlucky."
