Moses injury mars Riders win

Leicester Riders are through to the semi-finals of the BBL play-offs, but there was little by way of celebrations.

Their quarter-final second leg against Cheshire Phoenix was ended prematurely by a sickening injury to Victor Moses.

The Riders were leading 77-56 with around seven minutes left when Cheshire's Moses crumpled under the basket with what appeared to be a serious ankle break.

After a lengthy delay, both teams and the officials opted to end the game given the size of Cheshire's deficit and the concern of the Phoenix players for Moses, who led the league this season with averages of 23.5 points and 13.1 rebounds per game.

Cheshire later announced Moses had dislocated his ankle.

"Vic Moses ankle was dislocated, it is back in place, no fracture. Thanks for all goodwill messages" the club said on Twitter.

Leicester, 165-132 winners on aggregate, join Sheffield Sharks, Worcester Wolves and regular-season champions Newcastle Eagles in advancing to the semi-finals.

The Sharks narrowly edged out Manchester Giants, with the second-leg score of 78-78 enough to give the Yorkshire side a 141-138 aggregate win.

Michael Tuck led the Sharks with 30 points.

The Sharks will now face the Wolves, who lost 88-86 to the London Lions, but had done enough to take a 178-166 win.

Newcastle will face Leicester after a 97-82 win over the Durham Wildcats, a comfortable 194-157 aggregate win.
