Mossey Joe ready for Cork
Enda Bolger reports Mossey Joe to be in tremendous shape ahead of the Jack Tyner Hunters Chase at Cork on Monday.
This prolific winner landed this prize 12 months ago when trained by Declan McNamara and goes for a repeat win for new connections.
The 11-year-old bids to open his account since being bought by Barry Connell, after finishing third in the Fox Hunters' Chase at Aintree.
"He's been in the form of his life since Aintree and indeed the best form since I got him, hence why he's going to Cork," said Bolger.
"The only disappointing thing is that they are giving the ground as soft. All his best form last year was on good ground. He had a very rushed preparation for Aintree as he only arrived here at the beginning of February.
"All in all we were quite happy with his run in Aintree. The best horse won on the day though. He's come on in leaps and bounds since.
"The plan is to go to Stratford for their champion hunters chase, but we might squeeze in Punchestown as well. He likes it round Cork, he won this race last year. It's only 40 minutes away so he's not away from home long."
Bolger also runs the mare Wish Ye Didn't at the bottom of the weights.
"The form of her run (when sixth) behind Warne at Fairyhouse is looking good form now. She got a little cut and it held her up since then," said the County Limerick handler.
"We'll let her run and jump round. She's only a five-year-old. She may go to Punchestown for the Ladies' Cup."
