Mowbray already thinking ahead

Tony Mowbray is already thinking about the points Middlesbrough will need next season if they do not make this year's Championship play-offs.

The Teessiders need to win their last Championship game at Watford on Saturday and hope Cardiff lose at Crystal Palace if they are to extend their season.

However, if they do not, Mowbray will re-double his efforts to drag them back into the Premier League next time around.

He told the club's official website: "We have 70 points so far, which in a normal season is probably just about good enough to make the play-offs and for long spells, it looked as if we could surpass that total.

"The task for us if we don't get out this season is to get at least 83 or 93 points in the coming years.

"How do you do that? You score more goals and you concede fewer goals and somewhere in between, you win more football matches."
