Much-changed England bat first

England made three changes to the team that lost to India at Lord's, recalling Chris Jordan and Chris Woakes for the third Investec Test.

The two seamers were like-for-like replacements for Ben Stokes and Liam Plunkett in a line-up also featuring debutant Jos Buttler, whose fellow wicketkeeper Matt Prior is out injured for the remainder of the summer.

Alastair Cook won the toss and chose to bat first on a bright but cloudy morning in Southampton, where Pankaj Singh will make his debut in place of the injured Ishant Sharma - who took a career-best seven for 74 as India went 1-0 up at Lord's six days ago.

The tourists also beefed up their batting, specialist Rohit Sharma returning in place of all-rounder Stuart Binny.
