Munster add attacking force

Munster have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Brumbies centre Andrew Smith on a one-year contract.

The 29-year-old will join the RaboDirect PRO12 side for the 2014/15 season following the culmination of the current Super Rugby campaign.

Sydney-born back Smith rose through the ranks in the New South Wales Waratahs academy and has made 43 Super Rugby appearances since making his debut against the Auckland Blues in 2010.

Brumbies coach Laurie Fisher, formerly forwards coach at Munster, has offered Smith a unique insight into the Irish province and the centre is relishing the chance to ply his trade in the northern hemisphere.

"I'm really looking forward to joining Munster and making the most of the opportunity," Smith told the club's official website.

"Laurie Fisher has always spoken highly about the team and culture. It's definitely somewhere I want to go and make an impact, working closely with the boys and training hard.

"I've no doubt it will be a great experience and I can't wait to get stuck in."

The strong and evasive ball carrier is set to link up with his new team-mates for pre-season training and Munster chief executive Garrett Fitzgerald is pleased to have secured the services of Smith.

"We look forward to welcoming Andrew when he arrives at the end of his Super 15 commitments with the Brumbies," he said.

"We are delighted to have secured the services of a player of his calibre for next season."

You will be able to watch 30 matches from the 2014/15 RaboDirect PRO12 live on Sky Sports, as well as the tournament's semi-finals and final.
