Murphy issues Voler warning
Trainer Colm Murphy has warned Voler La Vedette is not a certain runner in the woodiesdiy.com Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown on Friday.
The top-class mare won this Grade Two prize 12 months ago and went on to chase home the mighty Big Buck's in the World Hurdle at Cheltenham, but this season has not gone to plan.
She was beaten at long odds-on on her return to action at Navan and was then a slightly disappointing third in the Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse.
Murphy is keen to avoid testing conditions with his charge, who has a slight breathing issue.
"I'm happy with her but she wouldn't want too much more rain and we thought the ground was going to be very soft I might even not run her," said the County Wexford trainer.
"Last year with the tongue-tie on she seemed to be getting away with it, but this season she isn't and I don't want to run if the ground is very soft. If we're not happy we might put her away and wait for better ground in the spring."
