Mustajeeb Royal Ascot options

Mustajeeb could be prepared for a trip to Royal Ascot after his excellent third in last weekend's Irish 2,000 Guineas.

Following an impressive victory over his elders in the Amethyst Stakes at Leopardstown, the Dermot Weld-trained three-year-old was pitched into Classic company at the Curragh.

The Nayef colt performed admirably to pick up minor honours behind the exciting Kingman and Shifting Power, both of whom had previously run well in the Guineas at Newmarket.

Angus Gold, racing manager for Mustajeeb's owner Hamdan Al Maktoum, said: "We were very pleased with him. We couldn't have been more pleased.

"It was a very good run, he's in the St James's Palace Stakes at Ascot and he'll also get an entry in the Jersey. We think he has the speed for seven furlongs.

"I don't think faster ground would be a problem for him."
