Nadal cruises into semi-finals
Rafa Nadal cruised into the semi-finals of the Rio de Janeiro Open with a 6-1 6-0 demolition of Joao Sousa.
He will face his fellow Spaniard Pablo Andujar in the last four on Saturday, whilst in the other half of the draw David Ferrer will take on Ukraine's Alexandr Dolgopolov.
World No 1 Nadal took 75 minutes to dispatch Portuguese star Sousa as he continues to rip through the draw.
It was the second straight match in which he has conceded three games or fewer, having crushed Albert Montanes 6-1 6-2 in the last eight.
Andujar beat yet another Spaniard, Tommy Robredo, 6-1 6-1, to continue his own impressive run in Brazil.
There was a little more drama for David Ferrer however - he was given a severe test by the talented Thomaz Belluci, the last local hope in the tournament.
Ferrer won 4-6 6-3 6-3, his victory coming after a lengthy delay during the third set when the floodlights failed.
Dolgopolov will be his semi-final opponent, the Ukrainian hugely impressive in beating Fabio Fognini 6-1 6-1.
