Nadal motivated in Barcelona

Top seed and tournament favourite Rafael Nadal says he is fully motivated to secure a ninth Barcelona Open title.

Nadal has won eight times at the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona in the last nine years and he is keen to secure more glory.

The 27-year-old Spaniard faces Croatia's Ivan Dodig on Thursday for a place in the quarter-finals and says every match is tough to win.

"Having the chance to play here in Barcelona is great," Nadal told Sky Sports.

"I hope to be ready to compete again here and compete well.

"Barcelona is an historic event - this tournament has a lot of years of history and the best players have played here.

"It's my club since a long time ago so I always had a special feeling when I had the chance to play here.

"I need to be ready. I know how tough it is every match and it is true that I was playing very well on clay for a long time. I hope to have the chance to be playing good matches here.

"I always enjoyed playing at home. No additional pressure, maybe a little bit more motivation."
