Napoli chasing Fellaini deal

Napoli have confirmed their interest in taking Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini to Serie A.

Fellaini was one of David Moyes' big-money buys last summer when he arrived at Old Trafford from Everton in a 27.5m deal - but he struggled for form and new manager Louis van Gaal is thought to be keen to offload the 27-year-old.

Despite the Belgium international's failure to score in 21 appearances for United, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is enthusiastic over the prospect of Fellaini linking up with Switizerland star Gokhan Inler in the Partenopei midfield.

De Laurentiis said: "They would make a nice pair. Fellaini has long hair, and the Swiss (Inler) is shaven.

"Together they have a hairstyle that looks like a lion's mane and three years ago I presented Inler with the mask of a lion!"

Under former Liverpool and Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez, Napoli finished third in Serie A last season and lifted the Coppa Italia - as well as reaching the second stage of the Champions League.
