New role for Meire at Charlton

Charlton director Katrien Meire has been appointed as the club's chief executive officer as part of an "organisational restructure" at The Valley.

The London club has also confirmed there will be redundancies as it aims to become "as operationally efficient as possible to assist in meeting Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations".

Meire told the club's official website: "Redundancies are always a difficult process for everyone involved.

"We have been reviewing a number of areas over recent months and, while not a reflection on the abilities or attitudes of those who will be leaving us, unfortunately we felt we had no choice but to implement the changes we have.

"I would like to place on record the club's thanks to everyone concerned, some of whom have given Charlton many years of fantastic service, and we wish them all well in the future."
