New training complex for Wigan
Wigan will unveil plans for a new training complex on Tuesday in a bid to attain 'category one' status for their academy.
Latics, who bought Charnock Richard Gold Club last year with a view to transforming the site, will present their proposals to the residents of the village, which is five miles north of Wigan.
Club chief executive Jonathan Jackson told the club's official website: "This is the most exciting project the club has been involved in since the building of the then JJB Stadium, now DW Stadium, in 1999.
"We feel that the site is perfect in terms of being able to provide the club with an infrastructure to grow into the future, and provide a Premier League facility for generations to come."
Wigan's current training ground site at Christopher Park in Standish Lower Ground is not large enough for redevelopment.
The club hope for the new complex to be operational by August 2016 if planning permission is granted.
