Newcastle draw at Huddersfield
Remy Cabella scored late on to give Newcastle a 2-2 draw in their friendly at Huddersfield on Tuesday.
The France midfielder was one of four summer signings to start the clash against the Terriers at the John Smith's Stadium.
Alan Pardew also included Facundo Ferreyra, Daryl Janmaat and Emmanuel Riviere, and it was the latter who opened the scoring with his third pre-season goal in the 16th minute.
Yoan Gouffran sent a superb delivery in from the right flank to leave Riviere with a far-post tap-in.
Poland international Radoslaw Majewski, a recent acquistion from Nottingham Forest, equalised with a superb strike nine minutes before the break after being set up by Paul Dixon.
Mark Robins made 11 changes at the interval, and saw his Town side forge ahead midway through the second half when Jon Stead's shot was deflected past Tim Krul.
Riviere was replaced by another new-boy, Ayoze Perez, soon after and when the Spaniard won a free-kick 25 yards out in the closing stages, he quickly played in Cabella who lifted a lob over Alex Smithies to equalise.
Newcastle finish their friendly preparations on Sunday when they host Real Sociedad, while Huddersfield open their Sky Bet Championship campaign at home to Bournemouth the previous day.
