Newmarket entry for Abandon

Multiple Group One-winning sprinter Reckless Abandon could make his return to action at Newmarket on Saturday.

The four-year-old, who won the Prix Morny and the Middle Park Stakes during a tremendous unbeaten juvenile campaign for Clive Cox, features among 20 entries for the Stobart Members Club Hopeful Stakes.

Although he did not reach those heights as a three-year-old, he performed creditably in the Temple Stakes at Haydock, the King's Stand at Royal Ascot and the Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp before being retired to Darley Stud.

However, after suffering fertility problems, Darley announced in April Reckless Abandon would return to racing for Godolphin under the tutelage of trainer Charlie Appleby and this weekend's six-furlong Listed prize is a potential starting point.

Robert Cowell's 32 Red (Stewards') Cup winner Intrinsic is among the potential opposition along with the Brian Meehan-trained Intibaah, Richard Fahey's Alben Star and Tropics from Dean Ivory's yard.
