Nishikori doubt for US Open
Kei Nishikori faces a race to be fit for the US Open later this month after having a cyst removed from his right foot.
The Japanese player had the procedure on Monday night in Charlotte, North Carolina, and his agent Oliver Van Lindonk said Nishikori would fly to Florida on Tuesday to start his recovery.
Nishikori, ranked 11 in the world, has been troubled by the injury in recent weeks and lost in the quarter-finals to Richard Gasquet last week in Washington.
He will definitely miss the tournament in Cincinnati next week and is something of a doubt for the US Open, which starts at Flushing Meadows on August 25.
