No complaints for Rovers

Tranmere caretaker boss John McMahon admitted they lost to the better side after the 2-0 defeat by high-flying Brentford.

Goals from James Tarkowski and Clayton Donaldson were enough to keep the Bees breathing down the necks of Wolves and Leyton Orient at the top.

But Tranmere had the better chances in the first half, Ryan Lowe's rising drive bouncing to safety off the top of the bar and Stephen Arthurworrey finding the woodwork with a header from Jason Koumas' corner.

McMahon said: "I think we competed and were in their faces but they were the better side with better players.

"The two that hit the woodwork were typical of things just not happening for us at the moment, but we can make excuses all day - the bottom line is we were beaten by a better side.

"We are just not dealing with some balls into the box which is disappointing, but there were some positives for us to work on."
