No O'Nien loan, says Sannino

Watford manager Beppe Sannino is keen that the club keep hold of homegrown talent like Luke O'Nien.

O'Nien, 19, has progressed through the club's Academy system and signed a professional contract last year - but has yet to play for the first team.

The Hornets have made a plethora of loan signings, many from Italy, since the 2012 takeover by the Italian Pozzo family, but Sannino is adamant that O'Nien should remain with the club rather than go on loan elsewhere.

"I want Luke O'Nien here," said Sannino, who replaced Gianfranco Zola at Vicarage Road in December.

"When I joined this club the spirit of belonging to Watford was important for me, even though I'm not British.

"And Luke, even though he is young, is like that. It is very satisfying to see him so strongly part of the club on and off the pitch."

"It's like Lloyd Doyley for his long service - they are two players but one is young and the other is experienced but they both represent something that all the players should have, they live their lives for Watford."
