Noble targets England call
Mark Noble feels he can achieve his England ambitions with West Ham - and make a tidy little profit for an old friend in the process.
The 25-year-old midfielder committed his future to the Hammers this week by penning a new three-year deal at Upton Park.
Noble is the Hammers' current longest-serving player and is now targeting a call-up for Roy Hodgson's England team.
"That's my aim, still, I'm still only 25," he said. "There's a lot of late additions to the England squad.
"The form that I've been in lately, I'm still hoping to get into that squad. If I carry on playing the way I am, hopefully it'll happen sooner rather than later."
Noble said his father Mark snr would be proud if he got an England call-up.
"He loves football. He travels all over the country to watch me, whether it's Blackpool away on a Tuesday night or Manchester United away on a Saturday afternoon. He's been everywhere."
Noble's dad would not be the only happy man should he receive a call-up as the midfielder revealed an old friend is in line for a cash windfall if he plays for the national team.
Earlier this week Manchester United midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe's dad saw a similar bet come good, winning £10,000 after betting that his son would play for the club when he was nine.
"Funnily enough, I saw that in the paper the other day and a friend of mine told me he did it years and years ago, just as a one-off thing," Noble said.
"So, he's still hoping to get paid, I think!
"It was years ago, when I was about 14, and I was playing for Under-16s with England, he said, 'I'm going to have a bet on you to play for the senior team'.
"I don't know what he's doing at the minute, where he's living or where he's working.
"I think he's hoping to get paid sooner or later, I think. Hopefully I can manage that for him."
Noble said he did not know the size of the bet, or the possible winning amount.
