Northants hold Kleinveldt hope

Northamptonshire are set to sign South Africa all-rounder Rory Kleinveldt as their overseas replacement for injured Australian seamer Jackson Bird.

A successful visa application will be required before the club can confirm Kleinveldt as one of their overseas players for this summer.

But Northamptonshire hope the 31-year-old, who will play eight LV= County Championship matches and 10 NatWest T20 Blast games, will be available in time for the Division One match at home to Yorkshire later this month.

Coach David Ripley told his club's official website, northantscricket.com: "We are very confident - we have the no objections certificate from the South African cricket board, which was the main stumbling block.

"We've just got to go through the visa process now and we hope Rory will be with us for the second game of the season."
