Northants snap up NZ pair

Northants have signed New Zealand bowlers Ian Butler and Neil Wagner to serve as their overseas player for the rest of the summer.

Butler, who has represented his country in eight Tests, 26 one-day internationals and 19 Twenty20 matches, has previous experience of county cricket with Nottinghamshire and Gloucestershire.

He will be available to play in all forms of the game until late July.

Wagner will arrive at the County Ground after the Black Caps' tour of the West Indies in July and be available for the last five LV= County Championship games of the season.

The 28-year-old has taken 50 wickets in 14 Tests for New Zealand and made a massive impact during England's tour of the country last year.

Northants were due to go into the season with Australia seamer Jackson Bird as their overseas player, but he had to withdraw with a back injury, and potential replacement Rory Kleinveldt was ruled out by a knee problem.
