O'Connor claims freestyle win
Siobhan-Marie O'Connor started 2014 in the same vein as she ended last year as she turned in a series of impressive performances at the Speedo Flanders Cup over the weekend, including victory in the 200m freestyle.
The Bath swimmer travelled to Belgium for the year's first long-course meet on the back of having undergone altitude training in Spain and the affects were clearly positive.
Saturday saw the Sky Academy Sports Scholar go in the 200m freestyle and in a final that included seven British swimmers it was O'Connor who came out on top in a time of 1:58.05 to finish ahead of Jazmin Carlin and Anne Bochmann.
O'Connor wasn't done there and on Sunday the 18-year-old was in action in both the 100m freestyle and the 200m individual medley.
The former brought a creditable fourth place whilst it was third in the 200IM in 2:12.50 behind fellow Briton Aimee Willmott and Hungary's Katinka Hosszu.
Overall it was a good meet for O'Connor and should provide another boost in the run up to the Commonwealth Games trials in a couple of months time.
