O'Connor coasts into final
Siobhan-Marie O'Connor was dominant as she qualified for the final of the 200m individual medley on Sunday.
The Bath swimmer touched home in 22:11.42 having been able to ease off considerably in the freestyle leg and still win by a distance.
Having won four medals at the Games already, O'Connor comes into her favourite event full of confidence and it showed as she led from the start and effectively had the race sewn up by the halfway stage.
She extended her lead in the third 50m, allowing her to take her foot off the gas somewhat in the final 50m. Despite that she was still able to finish more than three seconds ahead of Australia's Emily Seebohm in second place and qualify fastest for Sunday evening's final.
O'Connor biggest challenge is set to come from another Australian, Alicia Coutts, who won her heat in 2:12.00, or Scotland's Hannah Miley (2:12.25) who came first in heat two.
