Ogier keeps his nose clean
Sebastien Ogier emerged from a chaotic start to Rally Mexico with a 26 second lead over Mads Ostberg.
Ostberg's Citroen was 3.3 seconds clear after the first five stages, but he struggled in the second half of the day - dropping 17 seconds of SS7 alone - as Ogier's Volkswagen built a big lead.
Jari-Matti Latvala's Volkwagen is a further 16.4 seconds back in third but they appear to be the only ones left in contention after a bruising day which saw Mirko Hirvonen and Kris Meeke forced out, while Robert Kubica rolled on the penultimate superspecial stage, forcing him to miss the final stage and leaving his further participation in doubt.
Elfyn Evans finished the day in fourth place, albeit almost two and a half minutes off the pace.
