Tour debutant Renzo Olivo produced a major upset at the ATP Swedish Open in Bastad, knocking out second seed Tommy Robredo in the second round.

The Argentine qualifier, ranked 282 in the world, beat the world number five 7-6 (8/6) 6-3 to set up a quarter-final clash with Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas.

Olivo, who progressed beyond the first round when opponent Paul-Henri Mathieu had to retire, broke the Spaniard four times to record an upset in one hour and 37 minutes.

Cuevas booked his place in the last eight with a 4-6 6-2 7-6 (7/2) victory over Swedish wild card Christian Lindell in a match that lasted two hours and 15 minutes.

Fourth seed Jerzy Janowicz was another big name to depart the tournament on Wednesday, the former Wimbledon semi-finalist being forced to retire at 1-1 in the second set against Serbia's Dusan Lajovic.

Janowicz, who had already lost the opening set 6-3, was unable to continue playing due to a problem with his left foot.

Joao Sousa, the fifth seed, overcame Swedish world number 310 Elias Ymer 6-3 7-5. He will now meet Lajovic for a place in the semi-finals.
