Opera aiming for high note

Andrew Balding would like to see more rain in Italy to enhance the chances of Opera Gal in Sunday's Premio Lydia Tesio Longines at Capannelle.

The five-year-old mare has been in great heart of late, winning Listed races at Salisbury and Ayr either side of finishing second in a Group Three in Germany.

She faces a step up in class for the Group One over 10 furlongs but Balding is confident she is travelling over in great heart.

"She's run three good races in her last three starts and has travelled over there well," said Balding.

"I believe the ground is good over there and any more rain would be welcome."

Frankie Dettori is paying a visit to his homeland to ride Sajjhaa for Saeed bin Suroor.

Another five-year-old mare, she has not been seen since May when she chased home Izzi Top in the Middleton Stakes at York.

"Sajjhaa had a break after she ran at York but she is doing really well now," Bin Suroor told www.godolphin.com.

"I have been very happy with her and it would be great if she could win a big race like this."
