Orioles go level with Yankees

Manny Machado sent Baltimore joint top of American League East as his seventh-inning home run gave the Orioles a 4-3 win over Boston Red Sox.

The Orioles led 3-0 after the fourth, but a two-run homer from Jarrod Saltalamacchia in the fifth and a sacrifice fly from Cody Ross pulled the Red Sox level.

Twenty-year-old Machado then homered to lead off the seventh to ensure Baltimore went level with the Yankees, who earlier had lost 3-2 to the Toronto Blue Jays.

After falling into an early 0-2 hole, the Jays found a hero in Rajai Davis, who had three hits and two RBI, including a solo shot, to lead the fightback.

The Oakland Athletics continued their post-season push as two big home runs saw them to a 7-4 win over the Seattle Mariners in extra innings.

Trailing 4-2 in the ninth, Josh Donaldson sent the game into extras with a two-run shot, then Brandon Moss won it with a walk-off three-run blast in the 10th.

The win kept the Rays in touch with the Wild Card race, but the White Sox must catch Detroit if they are to reach the post-season.

Kurt Suzuki hit a two-run double in the 10th to give the Washington Nationals a 6-4 win over the St Louis Cardinals.

But they were prevented from claiming the National League East title as the Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets on the back of 6 1/3 scoreless innings from Mike Minor.

The Cards' loss allowed the Los Angeles Dodgers to pull to within three games in the NL Wild Card race with a 3-0 win over the Colorado Rockies.
