Osman granted testimonial

Everton are to reward Leon Osman for his long service to the club with a testimonial this summer.

The club has not revealed the opposition for the benefit match yet, but the game will take place at Goodison Park as part of Everton's pre-season schedule.

Osman, 32, has made 381 appearances for the Toffees since making his debut against Tottenham in January 2003, scoring 54 goals, and he recently overtook David Unsworth's club appearance record.

Osman will support two charities on the day - Claire House Children's Hospice and the Make A Wish Foundation.

"It's great news about the testimonial," said Osman. "It's not something I was thinking about at the start of my career because 10 years seemed such a long way off back then.

"But it's nice to be honoured and I'm looking forward to it."
