OTI snap up Van Percy share

Van Percy could be aimed at the Geelong Cup in Australia later this year after owners OTI Racing bought into the Andrew Balding-trained runner.

The four-year-old has won two of his three starts this term, racing in the colours of Lynda Ramsden and Richard Morecombe, who have owned the Sir Percy gelding since his juvenile days.

A crack at the Melbourne Cup was mooted following his win at Newmarket last month but following OTI's purchase of a 60 per cent interest in Van Percy, the Geelong Cup at Geelong on October 22 has been identified as a possible target.

The owner tweeted: "OTI Racing is proud to announce the acquisition of exciting English gelding, Van Percy.

"Van Percy will continue (his) campaign in (the) UK towards spring, with the Geelong Cup potentially his initial target here."
