Outstrip shows Champagne fizz
Outstrip drew comfortably clear for his first Group victory in the At The Races Champagne Stakes at Doncaster.
The Godolphin team are flying at the moment, and the grey had already shown smart form when a narrow runner-up to Toormore on what was only his second start in the Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
Outstrip's fellow 13-8 joint-favourite The Grey Gatsby took the quartet along, but Mickael Barzalona and the Charlie Appleby-trained Outstrip loomed alongside and were well on top entering the final furlong, eventually beating their market rival by three lengths.
Barzalona said: "I wanted to give him the best experience possible. He quickened well and got the job done, he's a nice horse and will improve a lot for this race - he'll be a serious horse next year."
Appleby said: "I was very confident without being too confident coming into race. He was just touched off in the Vintage, and Mickael said if he had known the horse had such a turn of foot he would have waited longer.
"We were always going to drop him in and ride him for that turn of foot."
