Ox set for return to training

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says that winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to return to training following his injury lay-off.

The 20-year-old has not featured for the Gunners since he was forced off in the 3-1 opening day defeat at home to Aston Villa with a knee injury.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has faced almost five months on the sidelines as a result, but Wenger has told the media that the winger is nearing a return to action.

"He is close to being back in training," he is quoted in The Sun.

"That'll be next week but it takes time to be competitive again."

The news offers a timely boost to both the Gunners and England after Theo Walcott was stretchered off in the 2-0 FA Cup win over Tottenham, although the extent of his problem remains uncertain.
