England player ratings

We rate England's players after they suffered a 3-0 series whitewash to Pakistan whose player ratings can be found here.

Andrew Strauss
This will certainly not go down as a classic tour for Strauss, who will have time to reassess by missing the one-day action. He never looked confident at the crease even en route to his 56 in the final Test as all his teammates lost their heads.
Rating: 4/10

Alistair Cook
So prolific has Cook been with the bat that much was expected of him in the United Arab Emirates. Whether his recent wedding played havoc with his concentration, who knows. He had one good knock - a 94, which was the highest by any England player all series.
Rating: 5/10

Jonathan Trott
Trott did his usual trick of coming to the crease, blocking for the early part of the innings and then looking to build a slow and big score. The only problem was that he failed to do the scoring bit and, every time he got started, a rash shot or good ball cost him.
Rating: 5/10

Kevin Pietersen
The best bit about Pietersen's tour was the commentary provided by Geoffrey Boycott as England's mercurial talent got himself out with shot after woeful shot. Technically, he seems to be having a bit of a problem at the moment. Half of his series run tally came from one knock, and that was a less than impressive 32.
Rating: 2/10

Ian Bell
One would imagine that when Bell closes his eyes at night, he sees the celebrating face of Saeed Ajmal, who made an absolute mockery of one of the world's most naturally gifted batsmen. It was like the Bell of old not the one that ripped bowling attacks to pieces in 2011.
Rating: 2/10

Eoin Morgan
The jury remains out on whether Morgan is a Test batsman. There is no question that he is a class act in the one-day game but the problem is that he does not quite have the ability to build an innings in the way that Test cricket requires. This was his big chance and he faltered.
Rating: 3/10

Matt Prior
You know it's not been a great series with the bat when the player with the highest average is the wicketkeeper but Prior was England's only player to average above 30 at the crease. His keeping wasn't perfect but he still managed five catches and a stumping.
Rating: 7/10

Stuart Broad
Broad was one of the truly bright lights of England's first tour of 2012. He showed superb consistency with the ball in hand, occasional venom and some vital wickets to boot. And unlike England's top order, he at least tried to take the battle to Pakistan's batsmen. Unlucky to be on the receiving end of a whitewash.
Rating: 9/10

Graeme Swann
For once, Swann wasn't actually England's best spinner but he still managed 13 wickets in the series at 25 apiece. That said, much of those wickets came against Pakistan's tail order. But still not a series to be sniffed at.
Rating: 8/10

James Anderson
Anderson made the most of the pitches early on when there was bounce to assist him but, too often, he was a bit-part player in a bowling attack led by spin. Despite conditions not really suiting him, he still bagged some important wickets.
Rating: 7/10

Monty Panesar
Probably England's player of the series. It's remarkable to think that he wasn't even in the starting line-up for the opening Test, England instead preferring Chris Tremlett. But he was the one bowler above all others that really troubled Pakistan's top order.
Rating: 9/10

Chris Tremlett
Hindsight's a wonderful thing and Tremlett should never have been picked for the opening Test, the turning pitches not suited to his height and pace. He trundled in and was relatively economical in the process but no wicket from his 21 overs and solitary run from two overs pretty much says it all.
Rating: 3/10

Some say the batters were out of form maybe the truth is that they are just not up to it not good enough and others should bre given a chance
