Panthers make it five in a row

The Elite League-leading Nottingham Panthers extended their winning run to five as they beat the Cardiff Devils 3-2 after a penalty shoot-out.

The Panthers twice came from behind as goals from Pat Galivan and Guillaume Lepine cancelled out efforts from Stuart MacRae and Mac Faulkner, and after neither side could find a winner in overtime Nottingham took it by a shoot-out.

The win allowed them to pull clear of Belfast at the top as the Giants lost 4-1 to the Fife Flyers thanks to Jason Pitton's hat-trick.

In the day's other game, the Edinburgh Capitals upset the Sheffield Steelers 2-1.
