Panthers thrash Coventry

Nottingham had an enjoyable trip to Coventry on Sunday evening as they underlined their position as Elite League leaders with an 8-0 win.

The Panthers head into Christmas four points clear of their nearest rivals as a result, David Ling leading the way with a brace of goals.

Belfast are their nearest challengers, the Giants crossing the Irish Sea for a tough-looking game at Sheffield and heading home with a 2-1 win.

Canadian Darryl Lloyd was the hero for Belfast, scoring both of their goals with the winner coming in the third period after Simon Ferguson had levelled.

At the other end of the table, Hull remain rooted to the bottom as they slumped to a seventh straight loss at home to Cardiff.

The Stingrays were on a high after Jereme Tendler made it 1-1 with 64 seconds of normal time left, but had their bubble burst by Mac Faulkner just 18 seconds into overtime.

The night's other game, an all-Scottish affair, saw Fife beat Dundee 4-3 after a shootout, with Jason Pitton and Pat Bowen having exchanged braces.
