Parisse: Italy are underdogs

Sergio Parisse has rubbished claims that Italy are hot favourites to defeat Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday.

The Azzurri scored a stunning win over France in their Six Nations opener last weekend and are seeking a fifth win in seven meetings with the Scots.

However, Italy captain Parisse has dismissed the pre-match analysis of opposing No 8 Johnnie Beattie that Scotland go into the game as underdogs.

The Stade Francais forward said: "I do not agree with Johnnie Beattie. We need to keep on improving, we have only won one important game.

"Every time we play here in Scotland it is very difficult, with all of the crowd pushing the home side on.

"So Italy are coming here focused and humble because Scotland are approaching the game as the favourites and the home team."
