Tamira Paszek was the biggest casualty in the first round of the Luxembourg Open after suffering a 6-3 7-6 defeat to Czech star Lucie Hradecka.
Eighth seed Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain was another casualty, falling 7-6 (7-2) 6-4 to Slovakia's world number world number 71 Magdalena Rybarikova.
German ninth seed Mona Barthel advanced with a 7-5 6-0 win over Mandy Minella of Holland, and Romania's Monica Niculescu beat Romina Oprandi of Switzerland 7-6 (7-4) 6-1.
