Danica Patrick has resisted the latest overtures of Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone to join his sport.
Over the years Ecclestone has slowly come around to the idea of a female driver in F1, suggesting recently American Patrick "has everything a driver needs for F1".
But ahead of the latest NASCAR Sprint Cup race at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee, the 30-year-old has reiterated she has no desire to join F1.
"I did see something about Bernie's comments and they sounded complimentary," said Patrick.
"It looked like he was kind of acknowledging my ability to drive a car. So that was kind.
"But I've always said that unless it would be something I would want to do for real, as in race a Formula One car, I don't see any point in testing it.
"It is a lot of work to get fitted in the car comfortably enough to go and drive it.
"Then as a driver, for me at least, I run the risk of what if it doesn't go well, and then people judge me for that.
"So unless it was something I was really serious about, I wouldn't do it."
Patrick, who started her motor sport career in British Formula Vauxhall and British Formula Ford in 1999 and 2000 respectively, once famously finished fourth in the 2005 Indianapolis 500.
It was after that feat Ecclestone, when asked about Patrick joining F1 then, said: "You know I've one of those wonderful ideas - women should be dressed in white like all the other domestic appliances."
Patrick insists her relationship with Ecclestone has changed markedly since then, adding: "I will say Bernie over the years has actually sent a lot of messages.
"Any kind of big high point that happens in my career, whether it be at Indy, or Daytona now, or winning in Japan, things like that, he has sent messages.
"He even sent me a big picture one time that was signed by him. He's actually been really nice.
"I don't necessarily think his comments a long while back are representative of his opinion of me."
