Pearl eyes HQ prize
Newmarket's Dubai Challenge Stakes is a potential next port of call for Pearl Mix following his impressive win at Kempton.
A seven-length winner of a maiden at the track on his second start last year, the grey signed off his juvenile campaign with a fair fourth in the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket's July meeting.
Various problems have kept him off the track for well over a year, but Ralph Beckett's colt could do no more on his return, winning a competitive conditions event with something to spare.
David Redvers, racing manager for owners Pearl Bloodstock, said: "Ralph has always held him in the highest regard and he has just had niggling issues that required us to give him plenty of time.
"Sheikh Fahad (owner) has been very patient with him and he has been rewarded. I thought he was very impressive and it was a fantastic confidence-booster for the horse.
"We can look to step him back up in grade fairly dramatically now and the horse has come out of the race very well apparently.
"He's in the Challenge Stakes at Newmarket, which would be a big step up, and we'll just have to take it step by step I suspect.
"We'll see how he comes out of his race in the next week or so. Either we'll take a small step or if Ralph is keen, we'll take a big step."
