Peterson signs Surrey deal
Surrey have confirmed the signing of all-rounder Robin Peterson for this season's NatWest T20 Blast.
The South African agreed a deal for the entire competition on the eve of Surrey's opening clash against Sussex at Hove.
A statement on the Surrey website read: "South African all rounder Robin Peterson comes straight into the squad after signing for the whole of the NatWest T20 Blast competition.
"Peterson has joined up with the squad and is available for this evening's game."
The 34-year-old, who joins compatriot and county captain Graeme Smith at Surrey, has played 20 Twenty20 internationals for the Proteas.
Peterson has also featured in the Indian Premier League for the Mumbai Indians, and he is a regular for the Cape Cobras in South Africa's domestic Twenty20 competition.
Surrey's squad for the NatWest T20 blast will be further boosted by Kevin Pietersen when he finishes his IPL stint with the Delhi Daredevils later this month.
The squad also includes England internationals Steven Davies and Jade Dernbach, while Ireland's Kevin O'Brien and former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood add valuable experience.
Meanwhile, Surrey have also announced that young all-rounder Aneesh Kapil has signed a permanent contract.
The 20-year-old was released by Worcestershire at the end of last season after three years at New Road.
He joined Surrey on a trial basis, and after impressing for the second XI he featured in the County Championship clash against Kent earlier this month.
A Surrey statement read: "Kapil trained with Surrey during the winter and his hard work and performances for the 2nd XI saw him registered with the County.
"He made his Championship debut for Surrey against Kent and he has now been rewarded with a full time contract."
Director of cricket Alec Stewart added: "We have all been impressed by Aneesh's ability and work ethic and he fully deserves his contract."
