Pierce shines for Celtics

Paul Pierce led the way as the Boston Celtics opened up a 2-1 lead in their Eastern Conference play-off series against the Atlanta Hawks.

Pierce weighed in with 21 points as Celtics recorded a 90-84 win in overtime, while Rajon Rondo had a triple double as racked up 17 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists.

The Hawks, for whom Joe Johnson scored 29 points, finished regulation with eight unanswered points to force overtime but could not take advantage.

The Philadelphia 76ers overcame a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Chicago Bulls 79-74 and claim a 2-1 lead in their series.

Spencer Hawes scored 24 points for the Sixers, who will look to extend their advantage on Sunday.

The Denver Nuggets got themselves back into their series with the Los Angeles Lakers with a 99-84 win.

Ty Lawson scored 25 points for the Nuggets, who led by as many as 24 points early on and closed the series deficit to 2-1.
