Pietersen escapes punishment
England batsman Kevin Pietersen will face no punishment for dissent during the crushing ODI defeat to India in Ranchi.
The 32-year-old has escaped with a warning after lingering at the crease and then shaking his head when given out to an Ishant Sharma delivery that appeared to brush his thigh.
Ashley Giles' tourists were hammered by seven wickets in the third limited-overs clash between the two sides after setting their hosts a routine target of 156 for victory.
The result took India into a 2-1 lead in the ODI series despite losing the opener in Rajkot, and Giles has called upon the England top order to up their game.
The former England spinner said: "It's easy to identify one or two players who might be in the firing line, that always happens, but we need all our guys to stand up and we need the senior guys to stand up as well.
"We've got an experienced top order bar Joe Root and the way we play our cricket we need one of those guys to get us a score.
"If they can do that, then we bat round them and it enables the guys from five downwards to play with a bit more freedom. Then you get your bigger totals, which is what happened at Rajkot."
